Timothy Michael Hurst

As with all my reviews, I am not an affiliate.

I can, however, tell you that I am a fan! I look forward to following this young man’s insightful writing for years to come.

Timothy is revising his epic series, The Kinsman’s Tree. While similar in some ways to allegories by C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, and another of my favorite Christian authors, Chuck Black? Tim’s fantasy world and story are deep. You won’t skim through this. But you will be entertained and challenged! View Biblical truths and doctrines of the faith presented from a new, fresh perspective!

I’ll go out on a limb here and speculate (pray!) that Timothy’s writing will not only entertain, but be used of God to help many to “connect the dots.” For those whose faith is faltering, to get their fire rekindled. For those strong in the faith? To draw even closer to the strength, hope, purpose, and peace that is found in the true Savior.

Here’s his synopsis of Book One, which offers an outstanding description (it does remind you a little of The Lord of the Rings, doesn’t it?):

The Empire of Chōl has conquered the world, spreading darkness through an army of wraiths, the Nihúkolem. Ancient texts speak of a coming Kinsman who will restore what was lost, but promise fades in the smothering grip of evil.

Hidden in the village of Endego, tiny creatures called the Etom struggle to survive beneath the willows. When their peaceful existence is shattered, young Nat must embark on an impossible quest. Guided by supernatural events and spurred by sacrifice, he sets out to seek the world’s one enduring hope.

But the path to the Kinsman leads through treacherous wilds, ancient mysteries, and the very heart of Creation itself. Discovering truths about his veiled heritage and a Tree that holds the power of life, Nat must choose between security and a mission that could save them all.

Will courage triumph over darkness? Can the least among us yet carry the greatest hope?

Each novel in his series is being revised. Revision of Book One is the series title, The Kinsman’s Tree. It is already available.

The revision of Book Two, The AEglet’s Answer, is due in late January 2026. Preview? We know that the Curse brought on the world by the sin of Adam and Eve affected all of Creation. What if we could take a whimsical look at what this meant for all other creatures? Especially if several such creatures also had mind and souls? Wonder if some of them would be even more aware of and open to their need for salvation than humankind?

Enjoy this thought-provoking adventure. I’m looking forward to the whole series!
